1 Day Chimpanzee Trek to Kalinzu Forest | Mbarara Tours
The one day Chimpanzee Trek starting from Mbarara can be done at the Kalinzu Forest located approximately 2 hours drive from Mbarara Town. Kalinzu Forest Reserve is home to the world most sought after primates the Chimpanzees found near Queen Elizabeth National Park in the southwestern area of Uganda in the Bushenyi District. This is just 2 hours drive from Mbarara. The Kalinzu Forest Reserve encompasses 137 km2 while the Kitomi-Kasyoha Forest Reserve, adjacent to Kalinzu, encompasses an additional 399 km2
We start from Mbarara at 6 am and drive appx, 2 hours to begin the Chimpanzee Trek in Kalinzu Forest which lasts another 3-4 hours. We take a packed picnic lunch break at the Forest . Then drive back to Mbarara arriving in the afternoon.
